My 15, WTCN has provided the best in family television to the Treasure Coast and West Palm Beach for over two decades, and continues on an exciting new chapter in the story of our service to you!
WTCN signed on in 1991 as a low-power community station operated by August Gabriel, on broadcast channel 43. Part of a national explosion of low powered, low cost television stations intended to serve small areas, in the beginning the station only reached 80,000 households in Martin County and Port St. Lucie.
That changed when broadcaster Bill Brothers purchased the station, and started a plan to expand both the number of viewers served and the local quality of the programming offered. Operating from studios at 1500 N.W. Federal Highway in Stuart, Brothers and his staff produced a number of unique local programs which served audience needs not met by other Treasure Coast TV stations.
In 2005, that potential audience attracted the attention of Viacom, one of the largest broadcasters in the world and the parent company of the CBS and UPN Networks. A deal was struck with Brothers to purchase the station, along with co-owned Spanish-language WWHB Channel 48. Viacom took over operation of the stations April 4, 2005.
As part of the Viacom-South Florida group of television stations, Channels 15 and 48 join WTVX, West Palm's CW in West Palm Beach, WBFS, My33 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, and CBS owned WFOR CBS4 in a five station group which is operated from WFOR’s broadcast center west of Miami International Airport.
Broadcast operations for both stations were moved September 1, 2005 to the Miami center, which will handle all of the technical duties. However, CBS Broadcasting, the company which now operates for former Viacom-owned television stations, plans to open a new West Palm Beach center for it’s three Treasure Coast stations, to handle support staff and local production.
September 12, 2005, became a network affiliate of The WB, giving that network it's first exclusive home in the Palm Beaches.
Then on September 5, 2006 WTCN proudly became an affiliate of My Network TV and renaming itself ‘My 15 Just More Fun!’. My Network TV was the first station locally to focus on groundbreaking new primetime entertainment original dramas that air 6 nights per week from 8pm to 10pm in 13 week cycles without repeats. To complement the new primetime lineup WTCN is also airing: My Wife & Kids, Bernie Mac, Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, Malcolm in the Middle and more of what West Palm and the Treasure Coast wants to watch.
